The story of how we went from research to results

January 2011
Newcastle University starts to set out research on how technology can best be used to improve mental health treatments.
June 2014
Our founders Dr Morag Maskey and Professor Jeremy Parr published their research for this ground breaking innovation.
July 2020
🚀 XRT launches
After a decade of clinical research and evaluation on extended reality therapies, our founders decided to form XR Therapeutics, spinning out from the NHS and Newcastle University.
Febuary 2021
We developed the first Extended Reality (XR) therapy scenes all controlled from a tablet. 🎉
April 2021
We worked with NHS therapists to not only design scenes and treatments, but to also design the training we provide.

Which led to our first NHS contract
March 2023
2 years on we had been awarded 4 different R&D grants and were working with 2 NHS Trusts.

But we had a plan, we wanted to make our intervention even more accessible, to work with a wider range of individuals and build the technology to work across different devices.

The Boundless project begins...

Boundless

verb

The removal of boundaries to cutting edge treatment. Helping;

Patients - Bound by their mental health.

Therapists - Bound by the distance between them and their patients

Organisations - Bound by budgets and resources

April 2024
🚀 Boundless launches
In an increasingly digital world the in person therapy wasn't accessible for everyone.

We needed a better option.

In 2024 we launched boundless. Software capable of making XR therapy as simple as a Zoom call. Allowing even the most remote patients to get the support they need.
Today
Today, XRT is a team of 14 people dedicated to supporting mental health—whether by assisting patients directly or by helping the therapists who treat them
